Your Guide To The History Of The Region

Carolyn has owned and operated a bakery since 1988 and has spent many-a-mornings kneading traditional bread dough into homemade bread that would later be enjoyed by local families—often with a cup of tea.

Growing up in a hospitality home, or more commonly known today as a Bed and Breakfast, Carolyn nurtured her love of travel and other cultures through conversations with guests. Since then, she has been connected to the tourism industry, in some aspect, for most of her life.

A born-storyteller, Carolyn was acknowledged in Annie Proulx’s book The Shipping News for opening the author’s “eyes to the complexities and strengths of Newfoundland women.”

Former mayor of Port au Choix, Carolyn is passionate about her community—the rich human history, and the strong connection the people here have to the sea. She welcomes any chance to share the colourful stories of this region with her guests.
